At this point in time same sex marriage is not available in Australia, under the current Marriage Act, but it is possible under Queensland law to have a civil partnership ceremony, which needs to be contacted by a registered Civil Partnership Notary.
These ceremonies are a legal declaration ceremony and registered in Queensland for 2 adults regardless of their sex.
—this does not include interstate declaration ceremonies or solemnising marriages.
To enter into a civil partnership in Queensland, you need to be 18 years or older and at least 1 partner must live in Queensland.
